The Vital Few

And the President addressed the Staff:
"We are the vital few
Who will save this business."

And each member of the Staff knew:
"I am one of the vital few
Who can run this business."

And they made their lists
To cut down the crew
Decisions were made
By the vital few.

And then the Staff was reduced
To skeletons too

Remainders
Survivors
But each one knew -

(Or prayed that the President knew)
"Those others they weren't
The vital few."
